We proudly welcome and accept ITEX trade!
Several years ago I enjoyed a discussion with our largest web hosting client regarding how a small company might achieve a National marketing strategy. He suggested using what is known as an "organized trade exchange", as opposed to direct or corporate trade.
Direct trade is a one to one relationship where a lawyer might trade his services for Internet access. The problem with direct individual trade is both parties must need each others services.
Corporate trade which was described to me as when an airline company might trade a million dollars of unsold seats for a million dollars for un-booked hotel rooms with a large hotel chain. Again, they both need each others services.
Organized trade is where a group of people or businesses belong to an exchange and anyone may trade with another member based on the same economical value as cash. All the members may not need each others services directly, but may have different needs with third party members. For instance, I trade web hosting designed for the Search Engines with a regional college newspaper magazine, they deposit x trade dollars in my account just as they would pay any other bill in cash. I then take my trade dollars and buy National Media which may bring in new cash clients....
The other great advice I received in that initial conversation about the trade industry was "You are only as good in the trade World as your broker"! Because he was from Arizona he recommended I call his broker Kolleen Otte of the Omaha, Nebraska ITEX exchange which is known as Barter America. This is the story of how I became a member of the Omaha, NS exchange instead of my own state.
These days I actually host or consult with several ITEX brokers about Internet E-commerce throughout America and it has become difficult for me to recommend one over another as I'm convinced those I have any professional relationships with are all good! I'd suggest if you need a Spanish speaking broker, there are some great hard working ones out there. There are also advantages to being a member in an exchange that is local to the communities in which you live and work. Then again, In my case, I'm into barter for the National and respected regional advertising opportunities and using my trade as wisely as possible for the benefit of my business and peers.
Of worthy note regarding config.com barter policies:
1. All of the same policies, terms, sales, guarantees, and such are the same as cash. The terms of service and policies are publicly posted within our corporate web site.
2. Only I (the President of fun stuff) maintain absolute authority to approve all trade transactions and enter such transaction into our billing system. This is usually scheduled by me monthly, but it has happened where I've overlooked an account due to a heavy workload. Please notify me and let me assure you that there are actually benefits for trade clients as they will never get suspended for non-payment or any other reason that involves or is caused by me.
3. All barter invoices may also be paid directly to my ITEX broker assuming it looks in order. We also accept prepayment of services and in such case the actual billing starts when the services are rendered. W have experienced a few cases where we've been retained and due to third party web production or whatever reason, and annual billing has come up for renewal since we account for all payment upon receipt as best as possible. In such case, we void the difference, again, because we start the billing when services are actually rendered.
4. We do not barter or trade production labor, taxes, or shipping. In certain special circumstance, the President of config.com, Inc. reserves the right to arranged trade labor, but this must be agreed in writing via email in advance.
5. We don't get many disputes, but frankly, it can happen! We once had a client that was a very respectable Doctor who just didn't have time to read the documentation to learn a particular program so he could control his web site. He decided to use his trade for a web master to do the work for him where we could not. In this type of dispute, our broker is authorize to offer refunds without consultation, although we'd sure like to know of any problems. The bottom line is: We consider our company to be a Golden Rule company and pride ourselves in Quality of Service to all clients equally! Oh yea, if you are not a current member and wish to be... Tell ITEX when you call that Joe Rinehart of config.com Internet servoces sent you and said "ITEX is all that and more"! Our ITEX broker is: Barter America P: 402.592.2918 F: 402.597.3565
