A former charter-school treasurer was charged today in federal court with embezzling nearly half a million dollars in federal school money.

Rejecting the recommendation of its own disciplinary panel, the Supreme Court of Ohio today suspended the law license of former Department of Public Safety attorney Joshua A. Engel for six months. The court's Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline had recommended only a public reprimand for illegally intercepting all agency emails for several months, rejecting the court disciplinary counsel's push for a six-month suspended sentence.

The Ohio Village at the Ohio History Center will reopen for the summer after being closed for nine years due to budget problems.
