We are excited to be migrating the config.com web site to use the Drupal content management system!
There are several reasons why we've decided to migrate config.com to Drupal which include:
1. Government security compliance requirements. Drupal is the only Open Source CMS system that meets this requirement.
2. To create a model where multiple administrators need access to their own sites ie: Support Department needs different access than the Administration department, then the sales department. The example I like to compare to is a University where there are many schools each of which need their own administrative and various levels of access.
3. Sir Tim Berners Lee uses open source Drupal for his blog ;)
4. Another Tim that I work with set up a site using Drupal and within a week managed to get a websitegrader score of 99 out of 100! I personally witnessed his site using a new domain name gain several #1 SERPs on Google without and social networking, links to his site, and the several other things that help a site gain high placement.
5. Although the setup of Drupal is more complicated than Joomla, I've been impressed with the features overall and certainly in regard toward the search engine optimization results.
